The CRF supports an active internship programme that provides an excellent opportunity for biosciences graduates to gain relevant experience in a clinical research setting.
The paid internship placements started in 2014 and are typically 6-12 months duration. The graduates learn and develop skills in laboratory techniques and processes, sample and data management, research design, study set-up and governance. The programme introduces the graduates to a wide variety of research, as well as research support roles and future career possibilities.
Following their placement, previous interns have moved on to a variety of career paths including postgraduate medicine, data management and statistics, and PhD studentships. Others have progressed within the CRF and other research groups within the University of Exeter Medical School, working on a variety of projects including large multi-centre clinical trials.
